Ford Mondeo Ghia X with Valentines Concours Wax

Jul 9, 2009   //   by Adam   //   Portfolio  //  No Comments

Evening all. A little change in terms of vehicles I detail, usually its people with BMW’s that want there vehicles done but today I had a not so ordinary ’07 Mondeo Estate booked in for a full hand detail and leather cleanse and condition. The vehicle is the top of the range Ghia X, and it was just a pleasure to work on, plus the owner was showing me all the toys, it was fully loaded like a top of the range Mercedes! TV’s, voice control, bluetooth, etc.

Plus being an estate lots of room for reflections. Anyway enough of my blabbing on about an “ordinary” Mondeo, and on to the detail.

The package performed on this vehicle was Silver + a Full Interior Detail with Leather Clean & Condition.

On Arrival

Light grime on the drivers side (as was the same on the passenger side):

and also light grime on the bootlid:

First impressions of the vehicle were good, it seemed to be in great shape and was a real credit to the owner.

The alloys were first up:

Before

The wheels were treated with a wheel brightener and after washing the bodywork they were sealed with a high durability carnuba wheel wax. The tyres were cleaned with an all purpose cleaner to provide a perfect surface for the tyre gloss.

After

Now onto the bodywork. The vehicle was snow foamed and washed with the 2 bucket method (2bm) and dried.

Claying was now on the cards, lets see if the vehicle is as clean as it looks!

Contaminants removed from the boot lid:

Not so bad, now for the passenger side lower rear bumper:

Lots of grime! A pre-wax cleanser was then used to prepare the surface for Sonus SFX-4 Paint Sealant and then Valentines Concours Wax. I did one panel with the SFX-4 and it began to spit, so time for lunch to wait for the bad weather to pass – 30mins later, no such joy so I thought I’d dive into the interior detail.

Before

Corner of the boot:

The vehicle was hoovered, the windows were cleaned, the plastics dressed and the leather was cleaned and conditioned to improve its lustre and increase its life span.

After

Under a head rest cover…

The head rest was also cleaned and conditioned as well as the cover, and the screen was cleaned.

The rain had now passed and it was time to crack on with the paintwork protection with Sonus SFX-4 and Valentines Concours Wax.

Additionally the glass was cleaned with a rain repellent glass cleaner and the plastics/rubbers were dressed.

The Results

Drivers Side

with the obligatory thumbs up in the reflection in the door:

In typical British fashion it began to “spit” (again!):

A big thank you to Ian for his hospitality today, and thank you all for reading and looking…
