BMW E92 330d Hedge Enhancement

A short local trip over to Milton Keynes for this one. The owner contacted me as the vehicle was showing 5 years of harsh wash techniques, which was interfering with the finish – with the added addition of scratches believe to be from bushes or a hedge.

The package performed on this vehicle was Gold: A thorough cleanse, incorporating snow foam, clay, the 2 bucket method, a 1-step machine polish to enhance the paintwork; followed by Valentines Concours.

On Arrival

First up were the alloys.

These were treated with a non-acidic wheel brightener, which was agitated with various brushes – and then later in the detail protected with a high durability wheel wax; the arches & tyres were also treated.

These were treated with Optimum Metal Polish to polish & protect the tips.

Now it was time to give the exterior a thorough cleanse including snow foam:

Here were some of the bonded contaminants removed by the clay after the passenger door:

Now onto the polishing process.

The choice of polish for this enhancement was DJ Lime Prime on a 3M Yellow Pad to remove light-medium swirls and holograms, along with significantly reducing the offending hedge row marks.

The rear bumper & passenger 3/4 panel were also showing signs of a respray – where the bodyshop left wet sanding marks. Some light spot correction was needed here to remove the wet sanding marks completely and then refined.

The swirls were also reduced quite considerable, although being the nature of these 1-step enhancement polishes some deeper scratches/swirls remained.
