Corsa C SRi Pre-Sale Machine Enhancement

This Corsa SRi was in need of some paintwork tlc before it was sold as it wasn’t in amazing condition, the odd scuff, mark and covered in swirls as well as many random deep scratches.

The package performed on this vehicle was Gold.

On Arrival

Bit dirty nothing extortionate, only thing was the very dull paint.

First thing to do was the alloys.

Quite a tidy set, these were treated with an all purpose cleaner, which was agitated with various wheel brushes.

The tyres were dressed and the alloys were protected later in the detail leaving the following results.

After

The vehicle then received the usual 8-stage paintwork cleanse including snow foaming and washing the vehicle with the two bucket method.

Next was to clay.

Contaminants removed from the bonnet:

Not to many as the bonnet was resprayed recently, however, the clay removed some real nasties from the drivers side lower door:

Now onto the correction, the vehicle was first masked up before assessing the defects and taking paint thickness readings.

Paint thicknesses were healthy and uniform throughout the vehicle except for the passenger 3/4 panel at over 300 microns – the rest read between 100-140 microns throughout.

Being a 1-step correction and after assessing the paint it was evident that in places that some RDS’ would remain as the paintwork was in more appalling condition than I thought – Even the NEWLY painted bonnet, I can’t believe how the bodyshop left it.

Not nice, considering this is new and fresh paint, obviously the wrong refinishing techniques were used.

Lovely flake pop has returned to the metallic paintwork…

The bodyshop refinishing was bad but the condition of the original paint was horrific!

Bearing in mind this was a one step machine enhancement I was very pleased with the results, light-medium swirls and hologramming was removed leaving a few random deep scratches and heavy swirls.

A vast improvement and a serious improvement in reflection depth and clarity.

Right half polished, majority of defects removed and a noticeable colour enhancement.

The rest of the panels were treated in the same way and received similar results, which really enhanced the colour of the vehicle, and only a few deeper defects remained – with a Platinum Package these remaining marks could have been treated.

The vehicle was then protected with a wax, the plastics were dressed and windows were cleaned and protected.
